The Foundation recently received two large gifts to further our total for the Campaign for Our Children, Our Schools, Our Future. IU Credit Union donated $20,000, and Smithville donated $50,000.

At the Educator of the Year Awards, the Foundation for Monroe County Community Schools received the “Mission Not Impossible” Award for its fundraising success in a challenging year of budget cuts. An army of businesses, volunteers, parents and service clubs helped raise $675,000 in 46 days this summer to support the school system.

Spelling bees are normally contested by children;  supporters of the Monroe County Community School Corporation held a bee for children at Bloomington’s Buskirk-Chumley theatre.
