Schools foundation to host New Year’s party

The Foundation of Monroe County Community Schools will host a New Year’s Eve “Reading, Writing & Rock ‘n’ Roll” party from 8:30 p.m. to 1 a.m. at the Indiana University Memorial Union’s Alumni Hall.

The event will celebrate the 1950s, and guests will experience drive-in food with a sophisticated spin, the best in that era’s rock and roll and a dance contest, as well as other themed activities.

There will be complimentary cocktails and appetizers, after which “The Soda Shop” will be open all evening for dinner, dessert and drinks. A cash bar will be available. Following a champagne toast at midnight, guests will enjoy an early morning breakfast. In addition, “The Drive-In” lounge and bourbon bar will be open all evening.
